After the firing of Johnny Dawkins, Stanford Basketball has been looking for a new Head Coach to lead the team come November. They appear to have done that, as the Cardinal, reported by Jeff Goodman of ESPN, are going to hire Jerod Haase.
Haase, in my opinion, is a great hire for Stanford. Dawkins only made the NCAA tournament once in seven years. Haase, who coached for a much smaller school, made the tournament three out of four years. With UAB, Haase had three winning seasons, leading them to an overall record of 80-53. This past season, Jerod led the Blazers to a dominant 26-7 record. The only reason they didn’t make the NCAA tournament is due to a early upset in the Conference USA Tournament.
Haase played college ball at Kansas and Cal. Before coaching with UAB, Haase was an assistant to Roy Williams at Kansas and North Carolina for 14 years, where he won 255 of 317 games. Hopefully, with the full Stanford roster coming back, and a new coach in town, Maples Pavilion will be rockin’ again this season.
