Michigan Survives Scare from Colorado

The #4 Michigan Wolverines (3-0) came back to defeat the Colorado Buffaloes (2-1) 45-28 in their final non-conference game of the regular season.

Wilton Speight threw for 229 yards and found Amara Darboh for his only passing touchdown.  De’Veon Smith led the charge in the running game with 87 yards and 1 touchdown on 11 carries.

Jabrill Peppers had a career day for the Wolverines.  He acquired 204 all-purpose yards, 9 tackles (3.5 for a loss), and recorded his first touchdown of the season on a 54-yard punt-return to put the game on ice in the fourth quarter.

To say the game didn’t start well for Michigan would be an understatement.  The Buffaloes took advantage of a Wilton Speight fumble and a shaky Wolverines defense to take a 21-7 lead through the first quarter.  The maize and blue went on to outscore Colorado 38-7 the rest of the way.

Michigan will start Big Ten play against Penn State next Saturday at home.
