Latest Draft Projections for Former Vols

As the focus in the football world now turns to the spring, several former Tennessee players will be hoping that their names are called at the NFL Draft. This year’s NFL Draft will be held in Philadelphia from April 27th to April 29th. This is the first time that the draft has been held in Philadelphia since 1961.

Six former Tennessee players have been invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, and based upon their performance in the combine, their draft position will most likely change as well. Quarterback Josh Dobbs, running back Alvin Kamara, wide receiver Josh Malone, defensive end Derek Barnett, linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin, and cornerback Cameron Sutton have all been invited to participate in the NFL Combine, which will take place from February 28th to March 6th in Indianapolis.

Defensive end Derek Barnett is currently the highest projected pick among the former Vols. Barnett recently set the record for most sacks in a career at Tennessee. After Barnett, Alvin Kamara, Cam Sutton, Josh Dobbs, Jalen Reeves-Maybin, and Josh Malone have all been projected at different spots. Some see Dobbs being the first taken out of that group, a majority of others see Kamara being the first pick of the previously mentioned players.  Dylan Weisman and Jason Croom could also sneak in the back end of the draft, but will more likely get undrafted free agent contacts after the draft is over.
