As of June 1, 2016 a new MLS franchise Atlanta United FC announced they signed a 18 year old striker of the name Jeffrey Otoo. Otoo comes in at 5’9, he is a talented left footer with a great amount of raw talent. Otoo comes to Atlanta from Charity Stars FC, a soccer team located in Accra, Ghana.
In just 13 games with the Charity Stars Otoo scored 21 goals. For the remainder of the 2016 season Otoo will play for the Charleston Battery which is Atlanta United’s USL affiliate. Otoo, is described as a strong, quick, young energetic player. Otoo is also said to have a very powerful left foot with great shooting abilities.
In an Interview Atlanta United’s technical director Carlos Bocanegra had a lot to say about Otoo. In the interview he talked about his energy off the ball and his dribble, also about how glad he was that Atlanta United signed Otoo. He also mentioned how Otoo had “a natural technical ability and unselfish style of play.” He continued to brag on Otoo throughout the interview.
The signing with Otoo is right on the line with how Atlanta United said they would approach to build their roster. This is because Otoo is a young and energetic player with lots of raw talent. Also because Otoo is an unselfish, tough, and a physical player. Otoo will arrive in the U.S. next week (the week of May 5, 2016) and begin play with Charleston soon after.
